How to Set Up Your CrestLabs Digital Business Card
Short answer: Setting up a CrestLabs digital business card takes about five minutes. You activate your account from an invitation email, choose a username, add your details and links, pick a design, press Publish, and your NFC card and QR code open your new profile on any phone.
Your CrestLabs digital business card is two things: a printed NFC card with a QR code on the back, and a profile page that opens when someone taps or scans it. You control the profile from your own dashboard at card.crestlabs.dev, so you can change it whenever you like without reprinting anything.
Before you start
- A smartphone or computer with an up-to-date browser
- A clear photo of yourself or your logo (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB)
- The links you want to share: website, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, booking page, Google Maps and so on
Step 1: Activate your account
After you order your card, you receive an email from CrestLabs with an Activate account button. Open it, choose a password (at least 12 characters with upper and lower case letters and a number), and you are signed in to your dashboard.
The link works once and expires after 48 hours. If it has expired, message us and we will send a fresh one.
Step 2: Choose your username
Your username becomes your public address, for example card.crestlabs.dev/alexmorgan. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens (3–40 characters). Pick something you are happy to keep: you can change it only once every 30 days, and links you have already shared stop working when you do. Your NFC card and QR code keep working either way.
Step 3: Add your details
Open Edit profile and fill in:
- About you: display name, headline (your role), company and a short bio
- Contact: email, phone in international format (for example
+94771234567) and website. Only the fields you fill in are shown, and they are what goes into the Save contact file - Social profiles: LinkedIn, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, YouTube, GitHub and more
- Featured links: up to 20 buttons, such as your portfolio, price list, booking page or reviews. Lower numbers appear first
- Photos: a square profile photo and a wide cover image. We optimise them automatically
Everything saves automatically while you type. The status at the top shows Saving… and then All changes saved.
Step 4: Design your card page
Under Appearance, choose:
- Accent colour: eight colours tested for readability in light and dark mode
- Mode: light or dark
- Link style: solid, outline or frosted glass
- Corners: square, rounded or pill
- Background: plain, aurora gradient, or your cover photo
- Font: modern, editorial or soft
On a laptop, the live preview on the right updates as you change things. On a phone, use Preview to see the draft.
Step 5: Publish
When you are happy, tick the confirmation box and press Publish. Your profile goes live at your address, and visitors only ever see the published version, so you can keep editing your draft safely. Publishing again replaces the live page; earlier versions are kept.
Once your profile is published, we program your NFC card to it, test it on iPhone and Android, and deliver it.
Step 6: Share and track
- Tap: hold the card near the top back of an iPhone (XR or newer) or the middle back of an Android phone with NFC switched on
- Scan: anyone can scan the QR code on the back with their camera
- Show your QR: on your profile, the QR button opens a full-screen code for in-person sharing
- Send your link: on WhatsApp, LinkedIn or email it shows a preview with your name, title and photo
- Download your QR: from QR & share, for flyers, slides, email signatures and your shop counter
Your Analytics page shows profile views, card taps, QR scans, link clicks and contacts saved for the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
If you lose your card
Open My cards and choose Report lost. The card stops working immediately, while your profile, link and QR code keep working. Message us for a replacement.
Keeping your account safe
- Turn on two-factor authentication in Account for an extra code from your phone at sign-in
- Change your password from Account at any time
- To change your sign-in email, contact CrestLabs support
